I will also post some of my photos (all photos are taken by me, unless otherwise stated) and also some of my short stories BUT MOSTLY it will be all about the books β₯Nicolene's House of Bookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15066749579726175469noreply@blogger.comBlogger62125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6325894686045749947.post-80758063085361728852018-08-30T05:10:00.000-07:002018-08-30T05:10:52.389-07:00PRACTICAL MAGIC - Alice Hoffman

Who in their right mind doesn't love the witchy Owen sisters with their fun loving aunts?
Now the thing is that the movie and book is completely different. So this only ever happened twice so far, where I pick the movie over the book. Okay don't get the wrong the book a pleasant enough read and the story was good BUT the movie, oh the movie was amazing.

I honestly don't think the movie would have been such a huge success if they kept to the story in the book. The movie is just so much more fun and family love where the book is a bit dry and just ugh... Not ugh in a total bad way but nothing compares to the movie.

So I watched the movie long before I got hold of the book and so when I read the book it was dry and a bit disappointing so I would recommend to FIRST read the book and then go and enjoy the awesome movie. But if it happens that you already saw the movie - still ready the book. Would make you appreciate it more.
NOS4R2 - just a number plate or something much more?
This was an amazing story and you can see that talent run in the King family...
The story takes place around Christmas.
Also about a young girl with a gift that turns into a woman and then a black car and an extremely creepy guy that drives the car. I can't say much more or go into detail as it will give the story away and ruin it.
I read this in a few short days and also around Christmas a few years back, you know to get into the Christmas spirit.

Seeing this photo and thinking about all the weird and dark twists and turns in this book wants me to read it again, plus it is almost Christmas again.

So people that know me can tell you that I love Stephen King and Horror (also coffee) so it just came natural to me to pick up this Joe Hill book and so glad that I did because he clearly got it from his daddy...
This was my first Joe Hill book and by far not the last one I will get. I love his writing style and his stories is dark and twisted and amazing. Another thing that I loved about this book is that he made a reference in the story about one of his father's most famous stories - IT, Pennywise the dancing clown and also the town it tormented, Derry.
How amazing it that?

So if you are a Stephen King fan or a horror fan then this book is most definitely for you. So go and sink your teeth into it.
Who doesn't love a good clichΓ©? I know I love them especially when it comes to my horror movies. Don't get me wrong I love horrors, all of them, but their is just something about a jock, slut, scholar, virgin and the fool.

So I did also watch the movie of course and loved it and this book is just the novel version of the movie. Maybe a little more detailed and of course you can read what they are thinking unlike with movies. So the book is a bit more.

I loved this book, no surprise there... Also I would recommend this book to just about every one I can. This book was also a very fast and easy read. I also loved the setting of the book - woods, lake and a small cabin (reminds me a lot of Evil Dead, the original).

Okay so the name pretty much says it all about what this book is. it is about a Cabin in the woods and these five college students go to for the weekend. The night starts off as fun but then it takes a turn for the worse when they pick their own way to die as part of a ancient ritual.
Does the legendary virgin survive? Read the book or even watch the movie as their are 99% similar and find out about this weird ancient ritual and who dies and who survives.

I truly enjoyed this book.
The Exorcist - William Peter Blatty

Thrilling and splendid.
You will finish this novel in one sitting, I did. It is so captivating that you just can't put it down. We all saw the movie and it was great yet scary but this novel it above and beyond, it really plays with your mind. It makes you think that maybe just maybe she does just have a mental illness. It shows how easy a possession can be misdiagnosed as a mental illness and visa versa.
This is really one of those novels that stays with you.
Very unnerving.

Rowling, John Tiffany & Jack Thorne
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part 1 & 2 - J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany & Jack Thorne

Absorbing, Delightful and Spectacular!
The eighth story, nineteen years later. A past that refuse to stay where it belongs,a family legacy that is too heavy of a burden.
Harry Potter and the cursed child continues with the wondrous magical world that we all know and live. We all grew up with these characters and whether we are Griffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin we were part of the Hogwarts experience.

There are plenty of familiar faces - Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione and Draco, there are also some that returns as the past changes - Dumbledore, Snape and Voldemort. Also some new comers to this story - Albus and Scorpius (both playing a big part in the changes.)

Most people saw this story as Fanfiction since J.K.Rowling never wrote it, it is still like coming home and very enjoyable. It is a fast moving plot and the main theme of the plot is time travel thanks to a Time Turner. I was hoping for some Dramione, but no such luck. It still shows a few diffrent scenarios and brings back a few loved characters that died.

Even though it is in play form it's still an easy enjoyable read. For the die-hard fans, such as myself, you will hlfinish this story in a few hours.

We will always remember the anniversary of The Battle Of Hogwarts May 2 1998.
Always

The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken
Excellent!
What an exceptional read. The characters are enjoyable, courageous and entertaining. Such a heartbreaking ending yet so meaningful. This story have a little bit of everything in it and I would recommend it to everyone, young and old. It shows how heartless people can be and yet how not everyone is alike. How power can change people, some for good and others for worse. How people can corrupt innocent children and treat them like a disease and yet they can get away with it You really root for these characters from the beginning.
I really did enjoy this novel a lot. It is a treasure.

Never Fade - Alexandra Bracken

Oh how I absolutely adore this novel. It shows how love can have a lingering feeling in your heart and makes you appreciate the connection between Ruby and Liam. Here is a few twists and turn that will make you gasp and then a happy and also a horrible ending, such a sad one. Very action packed and a few characters to absolutely hate to the core... The storyline is great, didn't expect anything less. This was an exquisite novel, just like the first one.Nicolene's House of Bookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15066749579726175469noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6325894686045749947.post-82523927018498546632016-10-05T13:26:00.001-07:002016-10-05T13:26:10.596-07:00Delirium, Pandemonium & Requiem - Lauren Oliver

Delirium - Lauren Oliver

An impressive story with a great storyline. You really fall in love with these two main characters and really start to hate others. It is a story about forbidden love with a true heart-wrenching ending.
It shows you the terrible and wonderful side of young forbidden love and it shows you an eerie side to a love less world and how dreadful it can become to have your feelings taken away from you. It was a pleasant adventurous read with a wretched ending that will make you reach for book 2 faster than you can blink.

Pandemonium - Lauren Oliver

Wow, what a story...
You start to except the ending of Delirium and move on with Lena to a new world anf way of living just to be thrown for a loop at the ending that leaves to breathless and ecstatic at the same time. The adventure continues in this great novel...

Requiem - Lauren Oliver

What a disappointment!
I don't want to sound mean but this book was rotten. The characters that you love and enjoyed to read about is just not the same, they don't have that same feeling as before and act like drama queens. The storyline itself is not bad at all but the ending is just dreadful.
No conclusion at all, just a gigantic open ending. It just don't cut it, it have a feeling of unfinished, like the author didn't know how to end it so she just didn't...Nicolene's House of Bookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15066749579726175469noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6325894686045749947.post-66302251536415626832016-08-13T09:55:00.001-07:002016-08-13T09:55:04.269-07:00Mr. Mercedes - Stephen King
Stephen king - Mr. Mercedes

Wow... what a thrilling story!
It sure makes you look at people differently and much more cautiously. It shows also not to judge a person by their appearance, since the normal man can be a psychotic killer and the nervouse nutcase woman can be a very valuable member to yor case and a potential friend.
This book had its disturbing parts but it was truly a great novel. Not only to you get to explore the Det. POV but also the killer's POV. Most definitely a great cat-and-mouse story...
A must read not only for Stephen King fans but also to anyone who loves a good detective/thriller & psychology thriller story.
So what would you do if your wish could come true but with a sick/deadly twist?
Most people would say "No thank you" but then again what if you were not told that little twisted price?

This novel is all about Be careful what you wish for. This is like a Greek version of a Genie. You get a wish granted but of course it almost always have a deadly twist...

The gorgeous Agatha Rae shows here that you can not label her in just one genre. She sure have the talent to spread it over not one or two but so far three different genres. What a great job she did at it.
Joyland - Stephen King

Splendid & Mysterious

One of the best mystery novels out there...
King writes this story as one will tell you a story, with bits of future information about people in it or stepping of the story for a moment or so and relive another memory. And who is the killer? You won't believe it and of course you expected just about everyone...
Naomi's Room - Jonathan Aycliffe

This novel is creepy, it even had me sleeping with my bedside lamp on one night...
And that is what you want with a ghost/horror story. It have quite a few twists and turns in it and a great ending but not really an ending gou would expect, yet another thing you want. It was really one of those books that you just want/have to read.
The more you turn the pages the more twists you get.
If you want a scary ghost story then this is for you.
I have to say that the part where Naomi dies is heartbreaking.
Exceptionally written, you experience all the emotions

Exceptional & Outstanding.

Everyone you meet, you meet for a reason and sometimes they are not good.
This book strech the boundaries of afterlife and digs into De Vermis Mysteriis & Potestas Magnum Universum. This novel is great and easy to read and keeps you turning the pages... the characters are so real and yet completely different from each other.
Charlie took him hobby and turned it into an obsession and stepped over the law of life... How something can look great but turns ugly with a price to pay at the end...
I was certainly hooked on this book, it is geniuse and shows that you can't put Mr. King in a single genre and that he knows how to go far beyond the border where most would draw the line.
All the clues to the end are there, everywhere in the novel you just have to know what to look for...
One man's obsession was his destruction in the end...

I was expecting something like a spin-off to Twilight cross with The Vampire Diaries , thank heaven it is not, it was actually really good and very captivating... It is just really good.
It keeps you wanting more and the way it is written is excellent, not only do you get to see the POV from every but also how they merge to come together.
I was pleasantly surprised at this book. It was really very enjoyable. I would most definitely recommend this book to everyone.
This is a truly beautiful story. This is one of those nivels where if you want to reflect on love and what is important, then read it or re-read it.
I am for sure going to read this novel a few more times. The letter Jo wrote to Katie brought tears to my eyes, so sad and yet so beautiful and touching.
Nicholas Sparks are truly gifted in the art of writing and knows how to capture your heart and feelings...

This novel was entertaining, amusing, blissful and a bit sad in the end. Actually heartbreaking but overall one of the best romance novels.
Tess is most definitely one of the best female main characters out there, not only is she fun, funny and a bit crazy. Let's not forget Nick Miller, still the charming, sweet, asshole (what more can a girl want).
There is so much fun drama I this novel, I actually laughed out loud a few times.
The novel took all the great fun and funny turns. The heartbreak left me sad.
I don't know if I review could do it any justice but I most definitely would refer it to everyone and anyone.
This is a great, fun and funny sequel to a great funny first novel π·

This was my first Colleen Hoover novel and most definitely not my last, also my very first audio book I listened. May I just say that Zachary Webber truly have an appealing husky smoky voice.
This is such a moving story about love, sacrifice and loyalty.
There is really not much to say other than it is one of the best love stories out there, it is a really moving story that would just leave you speechless and wanting more.
I absolutely loved this novel and Colleen Hoover.
Outstanding writing and a brilliant story πΌ

I absolutely love this book! A reread for sure. This book is so funny and yet insightful. Seth brings all the classic horror/slasher movies in and gives great advice. A must read for all horror/slashers fans out there.
I think the "An apology from Wes Craven" is great.
I mist say I enjoyed the part about possessed dolls (chucky) hilarious.
This is by far one of my favorite books. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, not just horror/slasher fans.
It is so enjoyable that you can read it in one sitting. This is a book for any occasion or mopd that you are in.
Do yourself a huge favour and go get this ASAP :)

looove this novel!
I originally picked it up for the career she, Tess, followed, photography. But this novel has it all, crazy actions and gorgeous men or rather just one hunky Nick.
I love the tension that build between them and the way Nick act. The fact that Tess just stole her flatmates identity and job and jetted off to Hawaii. This is by far the best British RomCom I have read. It is funny, crazy, whirlwind, fun, a bit steamy (not too much) and great characters.
The characters is great, relatable and fun. Most definitely a read for and woman. But be warned that you most likely will fall in love with Nick Miller.

πΈ
